Melissa Cahill, RN
CoF & President of the Board
Melissa Cahill is a registered nurse, nonprofit co-founder, and longtime advocate for Veterans, service members, and their families. With nearly two decades of experience in telemetry nursing, she brings a calm, patient-centered approach grounded in frontline clinical care, leadership, and continuity of care.
Married to a combat medic for 21 years, Melissa has lived the realities of military family life, including the long-term impact of PTSD and suicide risk on both the service member and those who stand beside them. This perspective informs her work with empathy, credibility, and a deep understanding of family-centered care.
Melissa has held trusted leadership and stewardship roles across healthcare, education, and military family programs, including serving as Treasurer for the 1-111th Infantry Family Readiness Program. A certified nurse preceptor, she mentors nursing students and transitioning nurses, with a strong commitment to education and professional development.
She is a co-founder of Green Star Families of America and V.E.T.S. – Veterans Equine Therapy Specialists, where she helps guide mission-driven efforts supporting Veteran mental health, healing, and family recognition.
