Our Story

Green Star Families of America was created out of a simple but profound truth:

Families who lose a Veteran to suicide are carrying a loss that is often unseen, unspoken, and unrecognized.

While our nation honors service and sacrifice, there has been no formal way to acknowledge these families—despite the growing number of lives lost to Veteran suicide each year.

Behind every statistic is a family.

A spouse. A parent. A child. A loved one navigating grief without recognition.

Green Star Families was founded to change that.

What began as a vision to create a new symbol of recognition has grown into a national effort—bringing together families, advocates, and supporters who believe these families deserve to be seen.

The Green Star represents more than a symbol.
It represents acknowledgment, dignity, and a step toward healing.
